Hotmelt coating is the preferred option for road engineering. It is applied by hightemperature melting and paving, and cures rapidly upon cooling. Boasting high wear resistance, strong reflectivity and costeffectiveness, it is suitable for hightraffic sections including expressways and main arterial roads, with a service life of 25 years. Ambienttemperature coldapplied coating features easy construction without heating. It is mostly used for lowload scenarios such as residential roads and temporary markings, yet relatively inferior in wear resistance and durability. Twocomponent coating cures via chemical crosslinking. It delivers outstanding wear and ageing resistance with slow retroreflectivity degradation, ideal for highrisk sections with frequent vehicle starts and stops, such as expressway exits/entrances and urban crossroads.
Retroreflective performance constitutes the core indicator of marking coatings. Highpurity glass beads formulated in coatings deliver highvisibility reflection at night and in rainyfoggy weather, effectively addressing poor visibility caused by daynight temperature differences, rainy and foggy conditions. Highquality road marking coatings also possess excellent weather resistance, resisting sunlight exposure, rain erosion and freezethaw cycles, and are less prone to fading, peeling, abrasion or spalling.
The performance of coatings relies on standardized construction and routine maintenance.
